General Information:
Transitional housing for working women affordable short- term housing for single women with no children drug and alcohol free residents must be able to pay a weekly or by-weekly fee. At Expected End Ministries, residents will live in a nurturing home environment with the support of individuals, organizations, agencies, and in-house programs to help them succeed in reaching independent living status. Phase 1 Women who are accepted into the program will be assigned a bed, offered a great home cooked meal and good night’s rest. The next day, she is assigned to a resident care aide to begin the process of short and long term goal setting and one-on-one counseling. Residents are provided with a care package that includes toiletries. Phase 2 In order to ensure health care needs are met, the women begin the process of acquiring affordable health care, if their place of employment does offer it. In addition, they sign up for GED classes, and begin cooking courses and money management workshops. Women are also offered workshops for hair care, make up and beauty tips on a budget. The goal is to assess the total woman, discover her needs and help her to transition into independent living. Phase 3 In the final phase of the program, residents participate in the following activities:     Money management refresher courses     Apartment hunting     Assignment of, and meeting with After Care Program Coordinator     Preparing of list of help services     Formal Graduation – Certificate of Completion

Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses. The naming of the two (Halfway House OR Transitional House) is oftentimes interchangeable.

Many Transitional Housing programs are subsidized and are income based. Income based transitional housing generally charges 30% of your income for rent when you do have income. Contact the transitional housing facility to see if this applies.

Services provided at transitional housing facilities varies from substance abuse treatment, to psychological assistance, job training, domestic violence assistance, etc. The assistance provided varies, but it is generally affordable and low cost housing. Transitional housing facilities also may or may not assist with alcohol and/or drug substance abuse treatment.
