Homeless Services CIC serves as a day shelter for displaced and / or homeless individuals providing telephone contact, mail privileges, daily storage and late afternoon nourishments as well as vital continual community contact in a non threatening sober environment. Maintains two Supportive Housing Programs and one Safe Haven Housing Program Distributes sleeping bags and food. Mental Health Services Social Rehabilitation Recreational Activities include: Bingo, films, talent shows, bowling, meal planning and cooking class, social events, picnics, holiday dinners, and an annual trip to the Lackawanna Stadium. Daily arts and crafts, movies, computer games, board games, and nourishment. Intake and referral to Base Service Unit for mental health evaluation. Weekly Staff Facilitated Recovery Group Outreach and Continuing Care Disaffiliated individuals in need of situational advisement and medical, mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and appropriate social service referrals are provided professional interventions utilizing a non threatening and gingerly approach. Inpatient referral to dually diagnosed (MISA**) treatment facilities and follow up case-managment services are provided to individuals in mental health/chemical dependency crisis. Supportive Housing Programs that provide an alternative living arrangement for individuals who, because of age, disability, substance abuse, mental illness, chronic homelessness or other circumstances, are unable to live independently without care, supervision and/or support to help them in the activities of daily living; or who need access to case management, housing support, vocational, employment and other services to transition to independent living.
Drug And Alcohol Rehab programs are intended to treat alcohol and/or drug dependency. The cost of participating in one of these programs and the method of treatment range significantly. The database operated on this website only includes residential rehab programs (not outpatient programs). We also provide Access to Recovery (ATR) Grant programs for substance abuse treatment.
Day Shelters supplement homeless and low-income people when the shelter their staying in only offers shelter on an overnight basis. Case management is often provided and sometimes there are laundry and shower facilities. Meals and basic hygiene may also be offered. Almost all day shelters provide their services free of charge. Any emergency or homeless shelter that allows clients to stay during the day is also classified under this category.
