General Information:
Shared Blessings is a faith-based ministry established to provide temporary shelter for men, women, and families that are homeless in St. Francois County. The people we provide shelter for are from all walks of life, some have found their way to St. Francois County for the first time. Our goal is to offer a hand up by connecting people with agencies in the county that offer help with gaining employment, medical care, mentoring, housing, etc., as needed. In addition to providing shelter, Shared Blessings also provides daily care items such as razors, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, etc. Shared Blessings ministry is supported solely by area churches, corporate and individual donations, and gifts from civic and service organizations. We hope that in working together, sharing blessings, we can end homelessness in our community. All applications are taken via phone. Unfortunately, we cannot give admittance to all who apply. IF, an applicant has committed a heinous crime against another, is not medically stable, either physically or mentally, if applicant has multiple rental evictions or is on the sexual predators list they cannot become a Shared Blessings resident. IF, we must decline your application, we refer to other resources not in this area. But, there are no other transitional housing ministries such as Shared Blessings. We will offer food to people who need food. We must authorize arrival at Shared Blessings, but we operate as a food pantry for those who cannot live within the walls of Shared Blessings. Toiletries: razors, body soap, lotion, shaving cream, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, toilet paper, sanitary napkins, tampons, facial tissue, etc. Household Supplies: laundry soap, fabric softener, cleaning supplies, etc. Household Goods: Bedding, furniture, lamps, curtains, shower curtains, towels, cups, silverware, dishes, cookware, etc. to set up house. We have sitting rooms, bedrooms, and a dining room. When our patrons find permanent housing, we try to help furnish their home. Household Maintenance: We accept donations to help maintain our building such as paint and supplies, etc. Financial Support: We are always in need of financial support. We have electric bills, water bills, trash, etc as any household would have. The more financial support we receive the more people we can help. Prayer: We pray we will be blessed with the support needed to continue the ministry. We pray to be a blessing and useful resource for our community. We pray that those who need us, find us. We pray that those we are helping will never face being homeless again. And we pray for those who care enough to share with us.
