Mission HDHS's main goal or outcome objective is for our shelter clients to become independent, financially stable, and self-sufficient. See More Description During the time these individuals are in shelter, The program assists them by reinforcing and modeling, structured living, helping in individual goal setting and follow through, supplying individual needs (i.e. interview clothing, toiletries, etc.), while providing a safe living environment for them. This is to give them freedom from worry about basic necessities and release to them the opportunity to seek employment and stable housing. The clients responsibility is to take advantage of all the programs the shelter has to offer and work toward their goal of independence.

Emergency Homeless Shelters both provide short term relief for the homeless and low income persons. Usually there is a maximum stay of 3 months or less. Many of these shelters ask their clients to leave during the day. Meals and other supportive services are often offered. 3 times out of 5 these shelters offer their services free of charge.
