General Information:
The mission of The Shelter, Inc., is to improve the lives of children and families. We serve children from all over the state of Kansas in our home community of Lawrence. Residential Program We provide unlocked emergency residential care for children, placed with us most often as a result of law enforcement and/or court action. While this program originally served 10 teenagers at any given time, we can now serve 28 children between the ages of 10 and 18 years. Our original house has been provided by the City of Lawrence since 1981. Our second home was opened in June of 2000, thanks to the fund-raising efforts of the Lawrence community.
