Gale Recovery, Inc. offers safe and secure housing, supportive counseling and individualized case management focused on our clients continued recovery from substance abuse while fostering independence and self-sufficiency. Gale Recovery, Inc. offers residential programs for both men and women at our respective Olson House for Men and Gale House for Women facilities. These halfway houses are certified by the Maryland Alcohol and Drug Administration, and the programs themselves are individualized for each resident. Our counselors and staff work to provide a safe, stable environment that is conducive to and supportive of the healing process. Gale Recovery, Inc. (GRI) provides Maryland state-certified residential halfway houses and low-intensity Level III.1 (ASAM PPC-2R) treatment of substance abuse and related disorders for adult men/women. Treatment includes a structured living environment along with supportive counseling and case management for approximately 3 to 6 months focusing on acquiring and transferring the skills of a recovery lifestyle. Admission Criteria    1. Referrals accepted from a completed Maryland state-certified outpatient or inpatient programs; patient must have primary diagnosis of Substance Abuse or Dependence.    2. Patient must meet ASAM PPC-2R admission criteria for level III.1 – Clinically Managed Low Intensity Treatment. If you are a treatment provider, here is a summary of level III.1 ASAM PPC-2R criteria.    3. Patient’s mental status (including emotional stability and cognitive functioning) is assessed as sufficiently stable to allow full participation in a level III.1 program.    4. Patient must express a desire to live without the use of alcohol and drugs, and the willingness to develop a new way of life including the skills of a recovery lifestyle.    5. Patient must be 18 years of age or older.    6. Patient must have no history of extreme violence or severe criminal or sexual offenses.    7. Patient must be alcohol- and/or drug-free at time of admission with a minimum of two weeks post detoxification.   Baseline drug and alcohol tests are required at entry and randomly throughout the treatment process.    8. Patient must be capable and willing to seek and maintain employment (unless permanently disabled), and to accept financial responsibility for a nominal program fee (in 2011, fee is approximately $120 per week and includes room, board, and program services). NOTE – proof of income will be required once employment or other sources of income are obtained.    9. In addition to seeking employment, patient should be able and willing to mutually and actively develop a recovery treatment plan with their primary counselor which is focused on eventual transition to independence and self-sufficiency in the community.   10. Patient must be willing to follow program rules, policies and procedures.   11. Patient must have the ability to live independently and cooperatively with others in a community living arrangement and be able to participate and support others in a group therapeutic environment.   12. Gale Recovery, Inc. focuses on residents in need from the Western Maryland Region. First priority for placement is given to pregnant women and IV drug users, second priority is given to Frederick County residents, all other applicants are given equal priority.   13. Halfway Housing helps transition individuals and families from shelters or homelessness to permanent housing. Length of stay is usually anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.  Residents are often required to pay at least 30% of their income toward program fees.  Sometimes the money they pay in fees is returned to them when they leave.
