General Information:
Eligibility: Residents must be female, single (no men/children) and over age 18. Hours 10-4pm Fees: First night free, $10.00 per night thereafter Intake Procedure: Call to complete pre-screening form, referrals from counselor, case manager or probation office Languages Spoken: English Service Hours: Mon-Sun 24 hours Description: BEACON OF LIFE is a women's transitional living program with rehabilitation services. Minimum stay of 4 months with a maximum stay of two years; 3 meals and snacks provided; no alcohol or illegal drugs allowed, and random drug testing performed. Substance abuse, mental health and medical assessments are required upon arrival. Intensive Case Management provided: residents are required to find employment and maintain appointments for counseling, aftercare, support groups, etc. SUPPORT GROUPS are open to the public, but are for women only: 1. Alcoholics Anonymous, Mondays at 7pm. 2. Narcotics Anonymous, Wednesday at 7pm. 3. Winner's Circle, Fridays at 6pm. For more information about support groups, contact 244-4713 ext.13. VOLUNTEERS accepted to help transport residents to employment related activities (applications, interviews, to and from work). Volunteers for weekdays, evenings, and weekends needed. Beacon of Life is not an emergency housing program. Pre-screen required. Area Served: Polk County Fees may apply for this Transitional Housing resource. Transitional housing is affordable supportive housing designed to provide housing and appropriate support services to persons who are homeless or who are close to homelessness. The transition is to help them be more self sufficient to move towards independent living on their own. Transitional housing locations are oftentimes called Halfway Houses.
