Class of Housing/Services: temporary emergency shelter for homeless single-parent families

General Information:
Vine Maple Place offers temporary emergency shelter for homeless single-parent families while housing case managers help them secure permanent housing. We also offer housing assistance for single-parent families that are in danger of becoming homeless. Vine Maple Place services include housing case management and counseling, employment development and coaching, financial literacy and budget training, and children's programming to help families have the tools to avoid homelessness in their future. Stable Families Program Application You are eligible if: You are a single parent with children and are homeless, in eviction or unable to pay rent. If you currently have connections through family, work or are staying now (or before becoming homeless) in Maple Valley, Covington, Kent, Auburn, Black Diamond or the SE Renton area (includes the rural areas surrounding Maple Valley). All meetings and classes are provided at the Family Hope Resource Center Weekly - parents and their children attend integrated services in a class environment at the resource center to support becoming safe and stable as they equip to be able to sustain their monthly needs. Child care/resource time, classes and activities are provided to kids while parents attend classes weekly. Kids also attend activities on their own schedule at the onsite Child and Youth Center. Onsite core services and weekly classes include: Emergency services: if homeless, families housed directly to their own apartment, or housed for a short stay in one of the 9 emergency shelter units and then to their own apartment. If you are in eviction, you receive services to supplement the cost to stop the eviction and rental assistance while you regain stability. Employment classes to gain full-time employment to afford monthly expenses Financial management and budgeting classes to build a household budget and reduce debt focused on monthly needs Children and youth programming to support the kids’ growth and healing Case managers work with the parent to assess and develop an individual service plan for each child Academic support for the kids focused on a plan to stay in and succeed at schooling Activities that encourage healing, emotional and social growth Parenting classes to meet the family’s needs Seasonal support for school and community sports and activities Onsite counseling is provided to children and parents by Nexus Youth and Families Basic essentials program provides essentials in gas cards, food, kids diapers/formula/essential needs, clothing, health care items and more. Services are provided as long as you communicate with staff and show up weekly for the appointments and classes.
