It Was Then That He Decided To Take This Opportunity To Follow His Calling And Develop A Non-Profit Organization That Would Meet The Needs Of Those In The Triangle Area Underserved By Existing Organizations And Institutions. After Careful Research, He Discovered The Following:> The Number Of Senior Citizens In The Triangle That Needed Assistance Was Increasing Faster Than Services Could Be Provided To Them By Existing Non-Profits, Religious Communities, And Government Agencies.> Individuals, Couples, And Families In The Triangle Were Running Out Of Food More Often Than Ever Before. Many People Were Running Out Of Food For The First Time In Their Life.> Homeless Shelters, Rescue Missions, And Transitional Housing Centers In The Triangle Were Feeding More Individuals And Families Than Ever Before.Friends Of Triangle Seniors And Food Assistance (Ftsfa) Was Formed In July, 2003 By Mark Prokop, Executive Director.In Order To Effectively Address The Identified Needs, Ftsfa Has Two Different Programs With Individual Mission Statements. Mission Of Friends Of Triangle Seniors Program:Help Senior Citizens In The Triangle (Orange, Durham, And Wake Counties In North Carolina) With A Variety Of Tasks Which Senior Citizens Are Physically Unable Or Need Assistance To Perform.Mission Of Triangle Food Assistance Program:Immediate Needs:To Provide Food To Individuals And Families In The Triangle Who Are In Need Of Food.Movable Food:To Provide A Timely Service Where Perishable Food Gets Picked Up And Delivered To Triangle Organizations Individuals That Need The Food On The Same/Next Day Basis.

Meals and other supportive services are often offered. 3 times out of 5 these shelters offer their services free of charge.
