Class of Housing/Services: Emergency Shelter and Services
General Information:
SOS programs for homeless individuals and families consists of two components: 90 day shelter component, which provides lodging, meals, and transportation and Case management and housing supportive services component: SOS provides a supportive environment with information and referrals, job placement, budget management, NA/AA, housing assistance services, monetary assistance, and other supportive services.
SOS provides supportive programs and resources to homeless individuals and families in need. Through our partnerships with over 60 partner congregations we provide temporary shelter for over 300 families and individuals each year. SOS provides career building, job readiness skills, rental assistance, self care and nutrition programs and much more.

Helpful Definitions For South Oakland Shelter:
Day Shelters supplement homeless and low-income people when the shelter their staying in only offers shelter on an overnight basis. Case management is often provided and sometimes there are laundry and shower facilities. Meals and basic hygiene may also be offered. Almost all day shelters provide their services free of charge. Any emergency or homeless shelter that allows clients to stay during the day is also classified under this category.
