Class of Housing/Services: Day Shelter and homeless services.

General Information:
Physical Address: The Basement in The First Baptist Church 51 Washington St. Morristown, NJ 07960 (use side entrance with steps leading to the basement) Daytime drop-in-center for the homeless and poor. We provide a legal address for people to use to apply for social services, jobs, register to vote or personal reasons. We also provide free use of the telephone for both outgoing and incoming calls. Our goal is to empower people to become self-sufficient and independent. This is done through counseling, referrals to appropriate agencies, providing emergency clothing, hygiene products, transportation to social services, and most of all welcoming everyone no matter what one's life situation may be at that moment in time. Our Place offers coffee, tea, light refreshments, use of restroom and a safe place to go during the day to rest, and be treated with dignity and respect by all as we are one family.   Donations Needed THE FOLLOWING ITEMS (new or slightly used) are needed all year: EMERGENCY CLOTHING: Men's white socks all year round - this fits everyone - New Tube socks from September - May - New Crew socks from May - September - New Men's extra large T-shirts - all year - New Men's extra large sweat suits - all year - New or slightly used Women's large sweat suits - all year Blankets - all year - Twin size or double as people have to carry them - New or slightly used Sleeping Bags - all year - New or slightly used Winter and Spring Jackets - New or slightly used Knit Hats - New or slightly used Gloves - New Coats that are durable for weather not dress coats - New or slightly used PERSONAL HYGIENE: Small sizes only and FRAGRANT FREE. We are a "fragrant free zone" due to people suffering with asthma, COPD, and/or allergies and all scents cause breathing problems.
