General Information:
The Cottage is a 16-bed Intermediary Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled (ICF/DD) consisting of two adjacent eight-bed homes. The Cottage is for boys and girls ages 8 to 31 years old with the average age being 15 and 16. Residents can stay as long as they need, free of charge. Only people with a diagnosis of MR and an IQ below 69 and children qualify and all referrals come from the Agency for People with Disabilities (ADP) in Tallahassee and must meet criteria through that agency as well. "Children in this program have limited self-care skills and a multitude of both medical and behavioral needs. The goal of The Cottage is to teach the children the appropriate daily living skills so that they may return to their families or live in a less restrictive environment."
